100,000 Rufiyaa Proposal

The doorbell rang and I answered the door. There was this face, the face I’ve been seeing for the past two weeks. He handed over the flower bouquet he was holding. I had no intention to take it, but still there wasn’t a choice.
Yes, it consists of all the beautiful flowers that you can buy from a florist. Just the next minute my mobile rang. It was him “So, what do you say?” he demanded. “Well, why are you sending all these flowers to me?” I asked him knowing what he will say next. “I can spend you as much as I want….anyway, are we going?” came the reply I just thought. “No, I can’t” I hesitated. “Yes, you will. And you know what will happen if you don’t…plus look on the brighter side, you are going to get a hell of a money to spend on clothes, lipsticks, fragrances anything…just do it…I’ll call you again late” The line went dead.
I let out a breath of relief. What the hell does he think of himself? Can money buy everything? This selfish, arrogant businessman thinks I’m a business deal? Even if he offers a million dollars I won’t do it. Let alone a hundred thousand rufiyaa. The thoughts filled my mind. But I couldn’t do anything. I need to be nice to him; I need to close the real business deal we are negotiating with. But can I do it, without jeopardizing my ethics, relationship and dignity?
This is a typical scenario of the current Maldivian business tycoons. They take the innocent and naïve girls who visit them to market their products as a product itself. They think they can buy her as well. Not on her will, but on his purpose. They offer huge amounts of money thinking that the hearts of these girls will blend with the paper notes.
How low can a man stoop for lust? The moment their bank statements show a 6 zero figure, they tend to hunt and prey to quench their lust. It’s like they have received their license to hunt.
Although the wealthy believes that everything and anything can be conquered with money, what they don’t realize is – everything in life dissolves. They maybe able to toss coins with two heads and play the game of “Indecent Proposal” or offer a 100,000 rufiyaa just for a smack. Yet, we all accept the fact that whatever comes in goes out as well. Or does a 100,000 rufiyaa can buy a couple of fate cells too?

Its soo true.. these business men (most of them) would do anything these days for lust! Not only offering money but moneys worth of gifts even if it costs them thousands or millions. They overrule young girls mind with these money! Its not only the fault of men. But girls too. They go for the money thats their weak point. And these men take advantage of their yound minds. They dont care abt their dignity or what would happen to peoples respect for them. This is a very serious issue now and nice post… And sorry my comment got too long

truth is a girl will sleep for money… it is rather a servival tactic… money secures a greater chance of bringing up the offsprings… it is biological… but look at the brighter side… her heart still belongs to someone else… maybe her children, who knows!!!

True True… Nice way u described it..
April 8, 2007 at 12:16 pm
What you’ve said is so true. I have some business contacts that I cant afford to be mean to but they keep on making infuriating comments about my body like I’m nothing more than #$#%#%!(*#%
censored!
Anyway, I was saying, this is how business ethics run. If a woman is going to be in marketing, an especially if she’s someone attractive, then she will have to learn to deal with these kinda things. They keep their money, I keep my dignity.
p.s. apologize for the long comment… this is just something that has been frustrating me for very long.

Yusuf: action may speak louder than words ! truh and facts maybe hard to digest ! yet, i don’t agree all women are like how you described them…
Shweeet: why don’t u suggest (if u ever come across someone like that)
Waylander: Thanks
Velvette: no worries… I can understand how you feel !

Said it right out man! Gud work! Money matters are a sensitive topic. For some they think they can buy everything from sensations to emotions with it… I beg to decline. Have to learn to say “NO” at times.
Sometimes it’s really hard to sit across a table and swallow a bit of harassment . Have to protect your business as well – though I feel like smacking them over the head with a saucepan!

not to be rude or anything! I haven’t seen a female who havent been cracked by money (including dhalha) so far. educate me if I am wrong!
take care…
April 11, 2007 at 12:50 pm
Ur wrong..plus u haven’t seen women like me. Some of us think from our heads rather than from our heels..
Tsk, I haven’t seen any man who haven’t been cracked by Dhala n dosh…. ummm Zero might want to say something regarding this before the jury rests its case.. Zero? Zero!! Oh hello?
April 11, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Yusuf: Maybe you haven’t seen enough women then…sure, the materialistic bunch can be cracked by money and dhalha…It’s not about educating you, it’s more about how you percieve things…
Niish: I agree with you. No further questions !!!

It is true there are many women who would never be sold for money as described here. But the generalization that all businessmen are out to get young girls to sate their lust is also wrong.
I know of several leading businessmen in Maldives who are respectable familymen.
There are two sides to the coin. No man can buy a girl’s affection unless she herself is allured by the money. All she has to do is say no and keep saying no. If she says yes, then why blame the businessman? It’s her choice too.
April 11, 2007 at 3:18 pm
yaarahbee… havent heard/seen a man as conceited as this yusuf guy… thinks all gals are that cheap… damn.. poor dude, so blind… no offence but u really shud open ur eyes wider. shame to all men!
April 11, 2007 at 3:34 pm
mcritic: i agree with you, for the fact that there might be a ‘gem’ in a bag of ‘pebbles’. Not more than that !!! Yes, she can say “NO”, but the next moment the employer fires her for being rude to a ‘valuable’ client worth of a million dollar deal. How far can she run? Switch her career? If so, why do we even let our daughters, sisters and friends choose such a career? Or is it about ethics and principles ??? I hope you got my point !!!
Finifenmaa: Yusuf will have an answer, don’t u dude ?

Its not about the career methinks. I mean, marketing is as good a career as anything, better really with the brilliant opportunities to expand your knowledge in the business world, but hiring pretty girls for these jobs is actually a ploy that many businessmen use. Its all a matter of the right kind of manipulation. I’ve heard a lot of businessmen say that its much harder to say no to a pretty girl than a smart guy. Its just how the world works.
I think mcritic is right. There are businessmen who don’t walk around with their d***s hanging on their forehead, but maybe him and this yusuf guy should also realize that the same way there are these decent men, there are also decent women who CANNOT be brought!
