Misery

Misery is a word often heard. Complains and complains about how gloomy your day is how depressed your nights are and how despondent your whole life is.

Why do you feel miserable? Why do people hate you? Why do people find you boring? Is it just your fate? Is it just because it is you?

I would not agree. Everything in this life has a reason. There will be a reason behind for your emotional unstableness which until figured out on your own remains as a mystery that is killing you painfully and slowly.

One major factor uncovered by psychologists for this ‘disease’ is one’s own way of thinking. If you think negatively about you, you tend to feel dejected. Staying alone sitting in a dark corner of your room looking at the cement walls won’t make you feel any better.

People get fed up easily. If you ‘act’ this way over and over again your family and friends won’t like it. Rather they lose interest in you. They think you are better off with your own misery.

The conclusion; although the miserable ones out there might not agree, rules out at one direction. You yourself are the cause behind all those sufferings.

“You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair”

Beautiful

Posted in Love, Poetry, Romance on March 8, 2007 by M

When the beautiful face
As of a full moon
Is veiled tonight
The lonely stars cry
To come back

Discontented
When that beautiful self is unseen
So hurt is my heart
When your beautiful self is unseen

Beautiful beautiful
Beautiful is my darling
Beautiful is my babe’

Blessed with a beauty
As of flower petals
Bees and Butterflies
Abandon the flowers
When they see your beauty

Present at beach on evenings
Watching the sunset
My heart starts to beat faster
The way she stays
Seems like she is looking back

Memories

Posted in Poetry on March 3, 2007 by M

Season and time has left
So unfading memories
Different types of different periods
So unfading memories

Twinkling stars
Seen on dark nights
Reminisce
(My heart weeps)

I question
Who will notice?
Pain and complaints of the heart
(Keeps me wondering )

As there’s no mercy
Towards my condition
I’m abolishing
(Yet Thankful)

The Right Career

Getting a job nowadays is easy, I’d say. The pages of the newspapers are flooded with job vacancies ranging from government to private, white collar to blue collar, employed to contracted etc. All sorts of jobs where you can build a career.

I have had the chance of interviewing candidates for various posts. Most of which are fresh school leavers. In each and every interview I tend to ask them one similar question “Do you have any future plans to study?” And without hesitation, most of them will answer “Yes”. The surprising thing is when inquired what they want to study and how far they are going to pursue their studies, the typical answer is “I want to study computing or IT and I want to do a diploma / degree in it”.

I have this seven page application form in front of me and in the applied position; it definitely is not anything even close to Computing / IT. When I ask them the reason behind the application for a job which doesn’t have any relation to what they are going to study, the nervous self-doubted answer that leaves their tongue is – “It is because, I like this place” or “My mom want me to be in this job” or “I guess this is my career”

I do not think twice, but put a REJECT stamp in their application form, which they would not know that until a letter has arrived at their home saying “your application was unsuccessful”. You may call me a self centered and cruel man for doing that. But I believe I’m doing a huge favor for them by rejecting their application. By opening the doors for them to go and look for a job which suits them physically and mentally and even more which will give them the job satisfaction.

I don’t believe in going for a job just for the sake of a job. Being in a job means you have to love it, you have to commit towards it and you have to even enjoy it. So guys don’t spoil your career by applying for a job because your parents asked you to do so or your girl friend thinks you are a loser without one or just because you want to earn some extra bucks just for the sake of it.

Choose something you want to be whether it is a fisherman, musician, technician or an executive. Knowing the upcoming trends in this technologically driven world is good. But that doesn’t mean you need to earn a degree in Information Technology. Career and literacy are two very different things. If you mixed it up, you have wasted ten to twelve years of precious time and money just for nothing, which will ultimately make you feel stupid and regret for the rest of your life.

Hard to Please

hard_to_please.jpg

I remember once a woman said to me “You’re a hard to please man”. I just wonder why she said that to me. Am I so difficult? Or was she not performing well?

Well, I think it utterly depends on your expectations. Everyone’s level of expectation differs. So if I ask you to do something and if you failed to do that to my expectation – yes I won’t be happy. Does that make me a hard to please person?

Am I a perfectionist? I firmly don’t believe so. There are times that I have taken alternative choices. So I guess that takes me out from that lot. But I’d rather say I’m a determined and committed person.

So, if I want something in life, I see that I get it, no matter what. I guess there are a lot of people like that in this world. In that aspect, If she judged me as a hard to please man – “Yes, babe’. I’m a hard to please man”

I Carry Your Heart with Me

by E. E. Cummings

i_carry_your_heart.jpg

I carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
I am never without it
(anywhere i go you go,my dear; and whatever is doneby only me is your doing, my darling)

I fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
And this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

I came across this poem from the movie, In Her Shoes.

I hope you like it, the movie is worth watching………………..

As if…

Posted in Love, Poetry, Romance on February 22, 2007 by M

As if some plea is suppressed in your heart
As if you have said some thing with your eyes
As if a life time has been spent lying wide awake
As if life remains but breathing has stopped

With each meeting it feels that
As if your gaze is asking me something
As I walk down the path, often I have this sensation
As if that gaze is silently directed at me.

Journey of centuries has shrunk within a minute
As if life has gone fast, very fast
I keep thinking about you in this way for hours
As if every breath of mine is written on your name

Best Friend

best_friend.jpg

Everyone would have at least had a best friend in some part of their lives. Or maybe there are best friends out there who are thick as thieves.

Now let’s see. Who is a best friend or who can be a best friend? The definition of best friend is – someone with whom one shares the strongest friendship. So, that means you don’t have to have certain qualifications to be a best friend or it is not some thing you study to get.

In short, it is a friend who shares common thoughts as you. Someone who clicks you, understands you, laughs with you and even cries. So this someone would know a lot about you and your personal life. Maybe your deep dark sinister secrets as well.

As you know this world doesn’t stay the same. You might see a bright and sunny day when you wake up in the morning which suddenly turns dark and gloomy with thundering showers in the evening.

How many of you have ever wondered what if this so called best friend somehow turns out to be your worst enemy? Yes, now you will be having this thought running in your mind – “Why would someone you call a best friend turnout as your worst enemy“. Believe me, you never know. There are a lot of reasons. The most primary one is we are humans and we are not perfect. So even best friends can make mistakes. They are not some programmed robots who will nod to you each and every time you say something. Even worse, there may be enviousness about your success. Success in terms of career, relationship, wealth etc.

So, what would you do the day your best friend turns out as your worst enemy? You surely can’t put your head inside the ground and hide. Besides, you never know how long your secrets will remain as it is. The ones that you want no soul to find out, even when you are dead.

I understand, all of you out there might not agree with me. In fact, there are friendships that last a lifetime. But I believe, it is better to have close friends than a best friend. There is no better one to share all your secrets other than only one – and that’s you. You are your best friend.

Be Afraid

Can see a child crying
Can hear groaning from time to time
Lifeless bodies are countless
Ground fills with rivers of blood

Deject the unfortunate
As if the soil beneath the feet
Whilst pleading for water
Tortured till death

Isn’t there an end?
Isn’t there a protection?
Can say these are humans?
Isn’t there mercy?
Isn’t there affection?
Can’t see any other day?

There is a God
Be afraid

Don’t know there is a day?
Don’t think will die?
Anguish of hell
Can tolerate even for a while?

Sustain the friendship
Join and help
Think of God
Then will see the paths of righteousness

Sobbing
Eyes are being filled
From the depressive scenes
Of Closer and farther

Valentine’s Day

What is Valentine’s Day?

There are various opinions in about this day. Yet in general, it is all about love and romance.

There are some people who do not agree in celebrating this day. Their argument is that it’s a day for Christians, not Muslims – which is very true as History says 14th February is the day St. Valentine was martyred. But do we also know why he was jailed and put on a death sentence? Let history speaks…

I believe we are not marking a death anniversary of a Christian priest, but a day of love, romance and affection and also likewise all those special days we mark throughout the year such as Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, New Year etc…

It is the faith and belief that is inside us that matters, not a celebration of a day which we call Lover’s day.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.
